Introducing the Weekly Campfire

It’s my pleasure to introduce to you a new feature on the Paleo Campfire – the Weekly Campfire.

The Weekly Campfire will be an opportunity for the Paleo and Primal community to gather around the fire and share their stories.  They can be tips and tricks, success stories, recipes, or whatever you want to put out there.  The only rule that applies is that of common courtesy.  If you wouldn’t talk about it or say it in public, don’t say it here.  That includes hateful or slanderous speech, fighting, or calling people down.  Flame wars will be quickly extinguished by me.

Otherwise, the thread will be open for all to contribute to and all to enjoy.  I’ll leave it open for a day or two depending on velocity and then everything that was shared will be available in the archives.  There will be a link at the top of the page to the current Weekly Campfire.  That link will change every week as the new one opens.  The link should go live shortly.

I hope you enjoy this new feature and feel empowered to speak to the world about how Paleo and Primal living is changing your life!

  1. Hi Erin,

I think it’s great to have a place for the community to gather. I’d love to be one of the first to contribute.

I think one of the most important things is to be able to discern fact from opinion. Most of us are choosing this lifestyle because we understand it to be the most healthy, we’ve tried it, we’ve seen results, and now we’re hooked.

New “evidence” will surface that may have a contrary view, and that’s fine. The responsible thing to do is to see who the information is coming from. Is it coming from a doctor? So what? Is the doctor promoting something they have financial investment in? Is this article citing any published scientific papers? Are those papers recent, relevant, of high power, or are they just a lame case study with a couple of people? Is the whole damn thing an opinion piece?

Being able to analyze data scientifically will help us to fend off conventional wisdom, and keep both ourselves, of friends and family, and our whole community on the right path.
